SEPTEMBER 2011

Inishowen Development Partnership makes Nationwide Shortlist

Inishowen Development Partnership (IDP) has been short listed as one of 45 organisations for the 'Coca-Cola 125 Years Thank You Fund'. The local group has applied for the funding in order to develop and deliver a practical health and well being programme targeting children and their families - and you can help secure it.

IDP is the only Donegal organisation on the shortlist. 15 of the final 45 organisations will secure funding from the €125,000 fund which is being used to support non-profit community and development groups as part of Coca-Cola's 125th birthday celebrations in Ireland. A public vote went live recently and will close on September 30th. The vote will count for 50% of the total vote with the judging panel awarding the final 50% available. The 15 winners will be announced in October.

The fund is being operated in partnership with The Wheel and the Northern Ireland Council for Voluntary Action (NICVA) and has been designed to support projects and initiatives that are having a positive impact on the quality of life of communities on the island of Ireland.

A total of 15 grants will be made - 10 of €10,000 and 5 of €5,000 for the runners up. The IDP has applied for the funding in order to develop and deliver the Kite programme (Kids Interactive Training and Eating Programme) which targets children from 4 to 17 years old and their families. It focuses on children playing outdoor/indoor activity games, encourages them to watch less tv, become more physically active and helps them identify good food choices.

The judging panel is made up of a variety of community leaders who were selected because of their proven track record in making positive contributions to society - they are: Aedamar Howlett - County Manager with Coca-Cola Ireland, Dame Mary Peters - Former Olympian, Sarah O'Connor - Executive Director at The Federation of Irish Sports, Michael Ewing - CEO Irish Environmental Network, Eoghan Murphy - Fine Gael TD in Dublin South East, Deirdre Garvey - CEO The Wheel and James Laverty - NICVA.
