SEPTEMBER 2005
Preparations For Carnstock 05
Carnstock 05 is a fundraising festival which will take place in
and around Carndonagh, between the 8th and 12th September, with
all proceeds going to Concern.
The festival has been organised by local community members in conjunction
with the local Garda Síochána and Donegal County Council.
Events in the festival include live music on the street, a monster
pub quiz, the King of Carnstock 05 competition, family fun day and
much more.
All proceeds raised through this project will be sent straight
to Concern to help build three schools in Sierra Leone, in the Northern
Region, Tonkalili District and Kholifa Rowalla Chiefdom. The goal
is to support the Sierra Leone Government to revive quality educational
services in rural communities. This money will aid Concern in assisting
local authorities and communities to improve the existing primary
school facilities in Tonkalili District.
Three schools will be constructed, the first by Concern directly
with the local NGO partner paralleling appointments and the two
others implemented by the local NGO partner. The project includes
community inputs with materials and labour in kind, strengthening
of the CTAs, and training of teachers and capacity building of the
district inspectorate.
