Charity Urges Donegal Shoppers to get recycling
The Irish Foundation is calling on Donegal shoppers to support
the Tesco Ireland 'Help Your Local Hospice' recycling appeal.
The campaign has already raised €10,000 but the Hospice is
urging the pubic to take action and help them reach their target
of €20,000 before Christmas. By donating their old mobile phones
customers can raise cash to support local hospice care in their
area - funds raised locally stay local.
Taking part and making a difference couldn't be simpler. Freepost
bags are availlable at the Customer Service Desk in the majority
of the 91 stores. To participate simply pop in-store, pick up a
bag and send in your old mobile phones. Alternatively you can call
1800 933 616 or visit www.recyclingappeal.com/hf. Every reusable
item received is converted into cash to support and fund local hospice
services throughout Ireland.
Kathleen Fitzsimons, Tesco Community Affairs Manager, comments:
"We would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone who
has supported our campaign so far. However, while we have been delighted
with the response, we cannot urge people enough to take the few
simple steps needed to help us reach our target. Recycling your
old mobiles is free and simple to do - bags can be picked up in
most Tesco stores. What may seem like old rubbish to some can be
transformed into vital funds enabling Irish Hospices to continue
their work throughout Ireland."
Supporting the appeal not only raises valuable funds for Ireland's
hospices but also helps the environment - when mobile phones are
dumped in landfill sites they leak dangerous toxic substances into
the surrounding soil. By bagging these items instead of binning
them everybody can play their part in protecting the environment.
