Inishowen Support urged for Scots-Irish Dyslexia Seminar
Author, Stephen Joyce, is organising a Scots-Irish Seminar, as
part of his support for the Inishowen Dyslexia Campaign. Speaking
from Glasgow, he was pleased that progress was now being made for
the seminar. "I am delighted that the work being carried on
by Solas and Action Inishowen could now be given a much higher profile
by bringing in the national dyslexic associations of Ireland and
Scotland to share views, issues and best practices."
Stephen is aware of the importance of these voluntary groups building
strong links with local schools and colleges where the professional
education support exists. In this way, the extra support, which
the voluntary groups are giving to the children can reflect the
best of what the educational experts are offering. "It is so
important also that the professional knowledge and back up support
which the two national associations have is shared, and resources
pooled in the best interest of all." said Stephen.
Stephen is now calling on all the shopkeepers and other businesses
who have books or could take books to make a special effort to help
Wilma Bonner bring in the new funds for the seminar. Wilma will
be around and offering a special price to businesses of €8
so the shop will make €4.90 on each book when they sell. Out
of the first copies printed for Ireland, there are now only 250
copies left. These will now be offered to businesses on a 'by now
special deal' to get the seminar costs started. If the businesses
make this gesture now we can go ahead and start inviting delegates
to the seminar to meet the parents and helpers who are doing so
much in their own time to help dyslexic children.
Stephen would also like to meet companies who would like to sponsor
some of the costs of delegates travel and accommodation. Any company
who feel that support for his Dyslexia campaign can help promote
their corporate image can contact him directly.
