Announcement a big help to Donegal
After the budget announcement that focused on children and childcare,
the Donegal County Childcare Committee Ltd (DCCC), has welcomed
the announcement of another €150,000 to services in Co. Donegal
whose applications were successful through the equal Opportunities
Childcare Programme. The successful childcare services are as follows:
Quigley's Point Community Playgroup was successful on two counts.
€60,000 for capital and €23,000 for staff funding; Magic
Roundabout, a new private childcare service in Letterkenny received
€6,800 capital funding; Naionra Dhuibhlinn Riabhaig (Carraig
Airt) was awarded €15,000 capital funding and Raphoe Community
Playgroup was awarded €44,000 staff funding. Dr. Martin Gormley,
Chair of Donegal County Childcare Committee upon early reflection
of the announcement stated: "This continues the momentum for
childcare development in Donegal, started earlier with the child-centred
budget announcement."

about €15 million in Co. Donegal to increase the number of
childcare places in the county and improve the quality of dozens
of childcare provisions, from private full daycare centres to community
playgroups.
Maria Gallo, Manager of the Donegal County Childcare Committee
reports this is only the beginning: "This is a recognition
of the hard work by dedicated volunteers and childcare practitioners."
She sated, "It is anticipated that this is the last Equal Opportunities
Childcare Programme announcement for 2005, it has worked in favour
for the County."
