Inishowen-wide Broadband rollout plan sees Moville go 'live'.
An additional broadband service has been rolled out in Moville
this week by ehotspot, as part of the Inishowen wide broadband rollout
plan that has also seen services go 'live; in Ballyliffin and Clonmany
in recent months. Many other small towns and villages in the Inishowen
Peninsula, including Muff and Culdaff are presently in discussion
with ehopspot about their own future rollout plans.
Inishowen Rural Development Ltd (IRDL) in conjunction with local
IT consultant Eileen Doherty, have just completed the second phase
of a peninsula wide broadband project. The project aimed to establish
the level of demand for broadband in small towns and villages throughout
Inishowen and to support the rollout of a broadband service where
it was most required.
Local TD Cecilia Keaveney has been a key driving force behind the
provision of the broadband service for the Moville area over the
last 18 months. Cecilia commented: "Business can be located
anywhere if the supporting infrastructure is in place. That is why
I have pursured the provision of broadband services so vigorously
and I am delighted that it is now in place. For locals and businesses
alike this marks a step forward for us in Inishowen. No doubt this
is only the start of companies and services providers vying to service
us in a competitive marketplace. It is a win-win situation and I
congratulate ehotspot and all those involved."
Andrew Ward, Manager of IRDL said "Broadband is an essential
tool for rural areas to compete in a modern business environment
and with the completion of the 2nd phase of this project, broadband
is now widely available in Inishowen. It is our intention to facilitate
a broadband service to all areas where a sufficient demand is shown
to exist. This will make a huge difference to how the business sector
develops in Inishowen in the coming years as well as our ability
to strengthen our economy through attracting new employers into
the region."
Jon Sprank, Managing Director of ehotspot commented: "We are
delighted to roll out a service here in Moville. This service highlights
our commitment to Inishowen and we look forward to working closely
with the people of Moville as well as many other communities in
the peninsula to help provide a revolutionary technology, the rewards
of which will quickly become apparent to the business sector in
particular."
Moville's broadband service will bring high speed Internet access
(which means no problems sending or receiving large files or downloading
webpages) for a fixed monthly fee. Subscribers can use the Internet
as often and for as long as they like for no additional coast. This
will revolutionise how local businesses work and will enable them
to compete with other businesses on a regional, national and an
international basis.
