SEPTEMBER 2010

Moville Tidy Town Success

Following the recent Tidy Towns' competition one Inishowen councillor has sent a heartfelt thanks to the workers in his home town. Inishowen councillor Mickey Doherty has expressed his delight with the four point increase on last year's result in the Moville area. Regarding the success he said "without doubt it was down to the hard work of an outstanding committee which i am proud to be part of".

Of the volunteers and people involved Mickey said "I would like to commend everyone who took part in voluntary clean-ups, including residents, football clubs, fishermen, rowing club, Donegal County Council, green keepers, painters, businesses and suppliers and a special thank you for the outstanding work carried out by FAS on the green and shorewalk". This was especially highlighted by the adjudicators.

Other point winners for the town included: the coastguard station houses, newly painted roadside and estate houses and premises, the approach road to the town, as well as the plants and flowers in the town.

Mickey said this was all achieved thanks to the organisation of chairperson of the group Marian McDonald along with the groups secretary Maxine Doherty who both put a lot of time and effort into making the Moville Tidy Towns a success. Councillor Doherty says he is now hopeful the group will gain more support next year from the community and wants to see the scores improved by ten points.
