Moville Footballer shines in emerging FAI Squad

Moville Celtic's Peter Burke played a prominent role in the FAI Emerging Talent squad that lifted the prestigious Hibernia Cup in Dublin recently defeating FC Utrecht from Holland in the final. The squad was selected from players that caught the eye in the Kennedy Cup tournament in Limerick in June in which Peter was outstanding.

With two goalkeepers in the squad both played two full games each. Peter played the opening game against Linfield FC in which the FAI squad played superbly to win by five goals to nil. Next up was Crystal Palace and while Peter did not feature he was delighted the squad won one nil. The third game saw Peter back between the sticks against the mighty Liverpool and in a close game the FAI squad again emerged winners by a one nil scoreline. A very modest Peter says "it was a quiet enough game for me despite having to come and collect a few crosses." In the final game Peter did not get to play but was deighted to be part of the squad that defeated FC Utrecht three one.

A superb experience and one which hopefully Peter will get to taste again in the near future.
