ICR Seeks Participants for New Series
Inishowen Community Radio (ICR) is searching for participants for two exciting new shows to be broadcast later this year.
The first of these will be a heritage documentary series entitled "The Generation Project" which will see persons skilled in a traditional craft paired with a younger member of the community over a six week period. Each episode of the series will document the progress of the pair from first meeting and follow their progress as the crafts people pass their knowledge unto their new apprentices.
For this series ICR is looking for local people who are skilled in basket weaving, spinning, blacksmithing, horology, needlecraft's, leatherwork, or making musical instruments, candles, soaps, textiles or toys by traditional methods, as well as traditional storytellers, Irish speakers or traditional cooks. So if you have the skills and would like to see them passed on to the next generation then ICR wants to hear from you particularly the over 60s and under 30s age groups but participation by other age groups is also welcome.
The second new show funded by Inishowen Development Partnership will give Inishowen's youngest citizens access to the airwaves and ICR is seeking national schools in Inishowen to participate in a new programme for under 12s. This show will feature children's local news and introduce some of Inishowen's most active children's groups. In the show children will also have the opportunity to read their own creative writing on air.
The idea for both projects came from ICR volunteer Jeanette NicLochlainn who will co-ordinate and produce the shows.
If you or your school would like to participate call the station on 074 93 29105 and ask for Jeanette or Emma or email: studio@icrfm.ie
