SEPTEMBER 2007
Fire Tender Commitment
Donegal senator, Cecelia Keaveney has welcomed news the government
has sanctioned five new fire tenders for Donegal. She said she will
campaign to have one of the tenders allocated to Moville where firefighters
currently have to work with out of date equipment.
"Given the government capital investments in the new state
of the art fire stations in Buncrana, Carndonagh, Letterkenny and
most recently in Moville, the addition of so many new vehicles is
vital to improve the age profile of the fire-fighting fleet. Said
Cecelia. "I am proud to have campaigned with the volunteers
in the Moville fire station since I first went on to the county
council 12 years ago to get a new "home" for them, and
while it has been a long journey, the beautiful building which is
almost complete on the entrance to the town is a huge asset to our
emergency services in the area.
The Moville tender is one of the oldest in the county and therefore
it would only be fitting that the new station houses a new tender.
I congratulate all those who give their valuable time to working
in the emergency services. None of us know when we will need their
help and it is vital that they continue to attain top-class facilities
as have been arriving in the county over the past decade."
