Praise for Inishowen Restaurants
Georgina Campbell's Ireland 2008, described as "the hospitality
bible" by the Daily Mail, chose eight Inishowen establishments
in its review of the county. Georgina Campbell is one of Ireland's
leading food and hospitality writers. Georgina and an experienced
group of food writers and hospitality professionals anonymously
visit establishments throughout the country.
The Carlton Hotel in Redcastle, Kealy's Seafood Restaurant, Greencastle;
The Malin Hotel; Ballyliffin Lodge and Spa; Glen House, Trean House;
Tremone, Harry's Bar and Restaurant, Bridgend and Harbourside Cafe,
Greencastle were all praised in the guide. Each make the guide on
merit alone, they cannot advertise in the guide or pay to be included
in it.
In its ninth year, the guide has high praise for those they consider
Inishowen's finest. The Carlton Hotel is described as "in a
world of its own". When describing Kealy's they said "If
we did an award for sea food chowder, theirs would take the prize".
Donal Doherty of Harry's Bar and Restaurant said their inclusion
in the guide is "brilliant news, it's a great reward for all
the hard work people put in at Harry's. Recognition in the Guide
is all the more rewarding as it only includes the best of establishments
which are hand-picked and tested anonymously. The first we knew
about this was when a customer spotted it in the paper".
The Guide helps spread the word about some of the great things
being done in the hospitality sector in Inishowen, locals and visitors
alike can enjoy the rewards by following some the recommendations.
