Money for Community Alert Groups
Two Inishowen Community Alert Groups are to benefit from new grants
approved under the Scheme for Community Supports of Older People.
The grants were announced last week by Pat Carey, the Minister of
State at the department of Community, Rural and Gaeltacht Affairs.
They will provide funding initiatives to improve the security and
social support of older individuals by means of a community based
grant scheme. Under the scheme, Carndonagh Community Alert will
receive €5,466.94 and Moville Community Alert will receive
€3,877.50.
Moville based senator Cecilia Keaveney said she was "delighted"
with the news. "I would like to commend all those groups involved
in working within the community that do the important work of acquiring
the necessary information to allow the grant to be drawn down and
then ensure the work is completed for those older people who are
in need of improvements.
