Keaveney Raises Educational Issues in the Seanad
Senator Cecilia Keaveney on Thursday in the Seanad spoke on the
education statements and asked that the small numbers of primary
schools that are almost ready to go to construction, are given letters
allowing them to do so at the earliest possible opportunity. This
would include schools in the Moville and Clonmany areas.
Senator Keaveney commented, A fundamental in everyones
life is the right to education. When I was made Seanad spokesperson
on this I made it clear that it is one of the basic rights. I realise
the pressures on the Minister due to areas of significant growth
that are putting demands on her resources for primary school buildings.
I outlined that for the small number of schools involved there
has been a long road to achieve the status that they had gained
and their needs were real and pressing. The minister listened attentively
and has indicated she will be in a position to know more post the
forthcoming budget, concluded Senator Keaveney.
