NOVEMBER 2007

Irish Music School

The ninth annual Inishowen Traditional Music Project Workshop will be held in Glengad National School and Glengad Community Centre on 24th and 25th November. The project to date has brought over 60 tutors from all over Ireland to spend the weekend in Inishowen passing on their expertise and love of the music.

The workshop gives young musicians the opportunity to further develop their skills and enjoy their music with other pupils from Inishowen and surrounding areas.

The format of the weekend starts with registration on Saturday morning 24th November in Glengad National School at 9.30am, followed with classes from 10am to 4pm.

On Sunday 25th November classes start at 11am and end with an informal concert in Glengad Community Centre from 3pm to 4.30pm.

Tutors for the classes include: Michael Carey, Louise McKinney and Paula Houton (tin whistle); Martin McGinley, Barry McLaughlin and Melanie Houton (fiddle); Marcus Ó Murchu (flute); Paul Harrigan (piano and button accordion); Michael Gallinagh (guitar); Bronagh Graham (banjo/mandolin).

All classes are suitable for musicians who have been playing at least a year. The tuition fee is €20 per day or €40 for both days. For two children attending from the same family the fee is €35 per child for both days. For three or more children from the same family the fee is €30 per child for both days. Children must bring a packed lunch both days.
