Funds for Inishowen Schools
Under the Department of Education School Support Programme the
government has allocated over €3.3million from the Dormant
Accounts Fund to provide Information and Communications Technology
(ITC) equipment to the 815 participating schools.
€60,999 has been allocated to schools in the peninsula. Inishowen's
four second level schools receive the bulk of the funding. Carndonagh
Community School is allocated €12,000, Scoil Mhuire, Buncrana
gets €9,000, Moville Community College €8,000 and Crana
College €6,500. Eight local national schools receive either
€2,500 or €3,000
The money will help provide greater access to ICT and will promote
ICT skills development among school children, with grants used mainly
for the purchase of equipment such as Digital Cameras, Laptops,
Desktop PCs, Educational Software and other computer equipment.
