Business Planning Workshops in Moville
Members of a number of community groups have taken part in business
planning workshops organised by Inishowen Partnership Company and
run by Kate Wilkinson from About Face, a Greencastle based business
and change management consultancy. Representatives from Malin Community
Playgroup, Moville Men's Group, Moville Family Resource Centre,
Inishowen parents and Friends of Mentally Handicapped Asociation,
Muff Community Development Co-Operative and Inishowen Womens Outreach
Network attended the two evening workshops that were held this week
and last week in St. Eugene's Hall in Moville.
Tutor Kate Wilkinson explains that the aim of the workshops was
to demystify the business planning process. "People often think
that preparing a business plan is very difficult and complicated
when really it is quite simple. You are basically answering a number
of key questions about your organisation for example, what you do,
why you are doing it and what the benefit will be. A well prepared
business plan will increase an organisation's chance of success,
reveal gaps in activitites and experience, keep the organisation
on track and focused, and provide a basis for measurement of success."
She says the workshops were well attended and participants found
the two sessions very useful."It was informal and relaxed.
People shared their experiences and learned a lot from each other,
as the community groups are all at different stages of developement
with their business plans." Following the two workshops, Kate
is confident that the participants will be able to go away and write
or update their business plans with confidence.
