New art gallery in Inishowen
A new art gallery has recently been opened in Ballyliffin next
to the post office. The Glashedy Art Gallery exhibits the wealth
of local artists from around the peninsula and also has some of
the finest photographic images of the area on display.
"It's long been an ambition of mine to open a gallery for
the artists," explains owner Des Kemmy, whose worked in the
framing business and photography over the years inspired him to
start the project. "We get thousands of visitors every year
here in Ballyliffin with all the hotels and its great to have another
attraction for them to visit as well as the beach, the famine village
or the golf course. It's opened all year, so come in anytime and
browse around."
Mr Kemmy says that he has had a lot of interest in the gallery
and that he has been getting a lot of positive feedback. He hints
that he has further plans to expand the project, but for now he
is keeping them under his hat.
There will be an official opening of The Glashedy Art Gallery at
some point in the near future.
