JULY 2007
Moville Summer Festival 2007
The Moville Summer Festival has been taking place in Moville for
over 50 years. When it originated in the 1950s it was known as the
Foyle Sea Angling Festival. The festival was set up by Fr. Rafferty,
Jim McGettigan and Tony Meehan who, concerned at the plight of the
families of many fishermen lost at sea, decided to run the Angling
Festival to raise money for the destitute families. The festival
which was so successful continued year after year attracting Angling
clubs from all over Northern Ireland and many visitors from England
and Scotland.
The events of this year's Summer Festival will begin 28th July
and go on to 19th August. The official opening will be Friday 3rd
August and will be marked with a Rocket Launch conducted by Greencastle's
Inishowen Maritime Museum & Planetarium. Activities for all
ages will go on from morning till night each day. Click here to

Programme.
Coinciding with the festival is the Moville Regatta which will
be held from Saturday 4th to 6th August. Races will take place in
Dinghies, Punts, Drontheins, Canoes, Cruisers and rafts. There will
also be races for children and swimming races. Boat trips from the
pier will take place on Monday 6th August at 1pm. The closing will
be marked with a rocket launch at the pier, and presentation of
prizes at buffet in the Baracuda Bar. Click here to see the Regatta

Late licences have been obtained for the duration of the Festival
and the committee wishes to emphasise that the Moville Summer Festival
promotes sensible drinking and requests that stewards and gardai
are co-operated with at all times.
