Greencastle Harbour to receive €5million
Senator Cecilia Keaveney today welcomed news by her party colleagues
Éamon Ó Cuív T.D., Minister for Community,
Rural & Gaeltacht Affairs and Mary Coughlan T.D., Minister for
Agriculture, Fisheries and Food that Greencastle Harbour will be
one of the 27 projects to benefit under the new co-funded CLÁR
Coastal Development Scheme for the development of harbours and piers.
Senator Keaveney commented, Under the new scheme the Greencastle
Harbour Development project will receive €5,302,000.00. The
Ratio of funding will be CLÁR 12.5%, the Department of Agriculture,
Fisheries and Food 75%, with the Local Authority in this case the
Donegal County Council funding the balancing 12.5%.
Senator Keaveney continued, The funding announced today is
great news for Greencastle, as it will allow for further progression
of the on going work there. Harbour developments located in CLÁR
areas such as Greencastle provide much needed infrastructure and
employment in rural areas. Where infrastructure exists further marine
related opportunities can arise, concluded Senator Keaveney.
