Inishowen border stories to be published

Have you a funny story to tell about crossing the border during the last 90 years? Artists in Creative Enterprise (ACE), a collective of writers based in Donegal and Derry, are inviting stories from members of the public to help shape a proposed new play for theatre, an exhibition of writings, and a talking book titled, Bordering on the Ridiculous.

Patrick Kearnery, of ACE, said: "About three months ago, we invited the public to contact us with humorous stories about the border. Since then, we have received over 200 truly funny stories about courtships, smuggling, marriages, births, family fueds, wakes, land disputes and car breakdowns, plus lots more. Many of the stories have been contributed by people of all ages in Inishowen, some of whom I have had the pleasure of meeting in their own homes to record their stories and more home visits are planned. The stories have been forthcoming from all sections of the community, and some have obviously been handed down through the generations."
