Calling Budding Story Writers in the Derry/NW Area BBC 'My Story'
Open Day, 22 Oct Belfast
The BBC has launched a story writing competition which was officially
launched on BBC The One Show recently.
The website www.bbc.co.uk/mystory
is already live and BBC N Ireland are asking as many writers and
wanna be writers to upload a story on to the site.
My Story is a BBC campaign but it is also a competition
all stories will live on the website and over 40,000 stories
are anticipated from across the UK so the website in itself is a
great place for writers to show case their work.
The competition aspect to the campaign will result in 15 finalists
being the subject of films made by The One Show and then the lucky
final five will be offered a publishing deal and help from a ghost
writer to work up their story.
The website itself is a great resource full of hints and tips,
short videos and testimonials. The stories are to be between 300-1500
words and must be true in origin.
The phrase which sums up My Story is 'Everyone has a story, what's
yours?'
Folks from all over the North of Ireland (and the UK) are invited
to contribute to the website.
The BBC will be promoting My Story heavily over the next few weeks
and BBCNI are running an event in Belfast on the 22 October hosted
by Gerry Kelly, featuring celebrity writers and creative writing
workshops.
If you are from the North-West/Derry area and are interested in
attending or know of anyone else who would like to, please send
