Unveiling of a new picnic table in Greencastle Village
|
Saturday 14th of November saw the unveiling of a new purpose
built picnic and shrubbery area in Greencastle Village. The
new stone structure was purposely designed to act not only
as a well located picnic area but also to double up as a placement
holder for the annual village Christmas tree. The table is
sure to be a great asset to the village as people can use
it over the summer months as well as it doubling up as a safe
and sound structure for the erection of the Christmas tree
over the winter.

The Greencastle Christmas Tree Committee
with the help of local residents raised the funds to erect the
stone structure. The structure was constructed during the year
by community FAS worker along with the help of a few locals.
The unique design of the table means that the lid section at
the top can simply be lifted off for the placement of the Christmas
tree. |

The Greencastle Christmas Tree would like to take the opportunity
to thank the local community for all their support and generosity
during their fundraising campaign. They would also like to
thank a number of individuals for their help in the overall
construction of the table; North East Inishowen Development
Company, FAS and all the FAS workers for building the structure,
Q Hire for donating the digger, David Reynolds for operating
the digger, Michael McCormick for the use of a dumper and
donating filing, Marty McDermott for operating the dumper,
John Farren for donating stone and McDaids Concrete.
