'Young Social Innovators' Visit Moville Library

Two members of the ‘Young Social Innovators 2009’ Trudie Gorman and Rebecca Farry recently paid a visit to Moville Library for an opportunity to explain to an audience what the Young Social Innovators programme is all about and also to donate a book entitled: ‘The Butterfly Effect’ to Moville Library.

The Young Social Innovators is Ireland’s largest social awareness and active citizenship and education programme. Students from two schools – Colaiste Bhride, Carnew , Co. Wicklow and St Peter’s Collage Dunboyne, Co. Meath collaborated on the project with the result of producing a book: ‘The Butterfly Effect.’

The main theme of the book include the thoughts and reflections on the First Millennium Development Goal: ‘To eradicate poverty and hunger.’ The book includes entries and observations on poverty and hunger by some of Ireland’s leading literary figures, including Seamus Heaney, Ann Enright, Sebastina Barry, Hugo Hamilton and many more.

The local librarian for Moville Library, Gerard Duddy said, ‘It was an honour and privilege for Moville Library to have been selected for a book donation and a personal visit by the overall winners of the Young Social Innovators 2009. The publication focuses on a serious theme and is both informative and inspiriting.’
