Moville Selected for grant by HEART Project
Anne Molloy Development Officer, on behalf of the DARD/Border Action
Partnership, has been in touch with North East Inishowen Tourist
and Development Company Ltd., to inform us that an Information Session
will be held Monday 6th November in Moville Community College at
7:00 p.m. The Project Manager, Kevin Wilson and Co-ordinator, Richard
Gibson will both attend the meeting to provide information and answer
questions.
The Strabane Donegal HEART Project (Heritage Environment Arts Rural
Tourism) is a cross border initiative which aims to regenerate rural
towns and villages on both sides of the Strabane/ Donegal border.
The Programme will run until June 2008 and is co-funded by DARD
and Border Action through Measure 1.4 of the Interreg IIIa Programme,
International Fund for Ireland, Donegal County Council and the private
sector. The total cost of the project is €2.5m
A total of 7 towns / villages in Donegal have been selected:
v Ballyshannon
v Ardara
v Raphoe
v Ramelton
v Lifford
v Ballybofey/Stranorlar, and
v Moville.
These towns are designated Heritage Towns. The project has 3 strands:
v Environmental Improvement Scheme (up to €60,000)
v Heritage / public arts and signage
v Shop front improvement scheme (grants of up to 40%).
Moville is the only town in Inishowen to be selected and its heritage
relates to the emigration that took place from here.
