JULY 2006
Plans under way for this year's Carnstock
Carnstock is here again and the organisers' plans are bigger and
better than last year. There will be entertainment for all the family
with a circus tent full of unique performers, relaxation spaces
and plenty of other fun events. This year's programme will include
great music on the street, with a few surprise big name guests,
as well as the cream of the Inishowen crop.
Last year the proceeds raised from the festival was over €25,000
and was used to build three schools in Sierra Leone. This year the
proceeds will be split between a global and a national charity,
which will use half the money to help build homes in India where
the southern regions were affected by the Kashmir earthquake.
A spokesperson for the organisers said, "With our experience
of running Carnstock previously and the continued support of the
local community we're sure that this year will be an even greater
success, and we hope that people will support us yet again".
This years winning King or Queen will get to pick the local or national
charity of their choice, and that charity will receive half of all
the money raised.
