Moville Community College charity race
Students of Moville Community College are gearing up for their
unique Jingle Bells Charity Race this Thursday along the shores
of Lough Foyle. The 2k race which has become a permanent fixture
in the college Christmas calendar, goes from Lafferty's Lane to
the second level school along the shore path. Each sponsored runner,
or walker, has tiny bells tied to their shoes so every step makes
a festive jingle. This year, five charities will benefit, Inishowen
Romanian Fund, Crumlin Children's Hospital, St. Vincent de Paul,
Children in Crossfire and Focus Ireland.
"All the students, staff, family members, people in the community
and, for the first time ever, past students participate. The bigger
the number of participants, the louder will be the jingle from the
bells," said a spokesperson. "Many who take part enter
into the Christmas spirit and wear festive fancy dress." After
the race, which is weather-permitting, participants receive refreshments
so no-one goes hungry.
Each participant is aiming to raise between 10 euro and 20 euro
for the five worthy charities so your support will be greatly appreciated.
