New Vehicle Testing Centre opens in Inishowen
The opening of the National Car Testing Centre in Carndonagh will
create a "great convenience" for motorists according to
Senator Cecilia Keaveney.
The new centre is located at Liss on the main Carndonagh to Ballyliffin
road and will begin testing vehicles from 13th January. Until now
vehicle owners have had to travel to Letterkenny for vehicle testing.
Speaking at a final staff training day, Senator Keaveney believes
the ten year campaign to have such a centre established in Inishowen
had been "worthwhile". "It really has been a long
road but very worthwhile for all of us who have, or will have to
present our car for the NCT. There have been many false starts but
the facility is up and running now.
Recognising the Letterkenny NCT Centre provided an excellent service,
Senator Keaveney said the sheer mileage and therefore time implications
were tough particularly those who had a difficulty identified in
their car and therefor had to make more than one journey.
The Senator concluded in "wishing the new venture well within
the peninsula, I trust that the work that it does will continue
to keep the vehicles on our roads in the safest of conditions".
