New Festival Planned for Carndonagh

An exciting development in Carndonagh will see the first ever John Colgan Heritage Weekend held in the town later this summer.

The inaugural gala event will consist of music, talks, guided walks, art exhibitions, history of drama and film. The weekend which runs from June 2th-27th is set to be a celebration of the life and times of John Colgan (1590-1658).

A native of Carndonagh, John left his native land in 1612 and was ordained a priest in 1618. He entered the Franciscan Order in St. Anthony's College in Louvain, Belguim.
