Sean Gallagher - Winner of Peter Leech Memorial Cup 2010 (Darts)
The 3rd Annual Darts Singles Peter Leech Memorial Cup was held
in the Trawlerman Bar, Moville on Saturday, 17th April. There was
a good turn out for the competition and it attracted some of the
top dart players in Donegal, which included 8 of the recently crowned
All-Ireland champions.
After many tough games in the first round, the second round was
equally as challenging. Game of the second round was between County
Players Paul Leech and Paddy Boyce, with Boyce coming out on top
at 4-3.
The quarter finals saw a tense game between Anthony Worskey and
Sean Gallagher. With every game going with the throw, Sean won 4-3.
Shane Foland lost out to Derek Quinn 4-2. Cambell Jackson lost out
to Paddy Boyce 4-1 and Michael Leech lost out to Colm Maxwell 4-2.
In the Semi final Derek Quinn defeated Paddy Boyce with a 5-0 win
and Sean Gallagher suceeded Maxwell with a 5-1 victory.
The final was a battle to the end with the match even at 3-3. Quinn
got ahead 4-3 with Gallagher coming back again to make it 4-4. It
went to 5-5 and both men had to play their top game to fight for
the title. The last game saw fantastic darts from both players with
Gallagher pulling out all the stops with a 180, 140 and 100 to finish
out the game in 14 darts to clinch the title.
The Leech family would like to thank the Trawlerman Bar for hosting
the event and all players who turned up on the day.
