Volunteers sought for new footpath initiative at Cooley Cross

Volunteers are being sought to help in the laying a new footpath at Cooley Cross Graveyard, Moville. Anyone interested should contact the Cooley Cross Heritage Development Committee.

Under the direction of the National and Local Heritage Councils the voluntary Cooley Cross Heritage Development Committee have been involved in all sorts of initiatives at Cooley Cross including a major clean up of the site last year and they are now looking build on this work by constructing a pathway around the graveyard which will make the whole area more user friendly to anyone wishing to visit the site.

The site at Cooley contains the ruins of an old monastery and the C.C Development Committee have been working to conserve the structure and try to protect it from any possible future damage. Foundations for the new pathway will be laid in the near future and it is hoped that with a little help from the public, the whole site will be able to be enjoyed by everyone not only in the community but by visitors alike.
