MARCH 2011

Carnival Offers Parade Fundraising Opportunity

Inishowen Carnival Group are offering a fantastic fundraising opportunity to any group able to provide some hard working young people or adults who are willing to push some if its large carnival props around the streets of Dublin on St. Patrick's Day. There are only a few places left for performers and flag carriers in this year's Carnival Zoo Production but the carnival group is still well short of its target of 25 crew members for the day who help with the setting up and pushing larger props in the parade.

Because of the nature of the work involved which is not quite as fun as dancing around as a pink flamengo or an impish monkey, the carnival group has set aside a part of their parade budget to pay an additional sum to crew members who are willing to do the slightly heavier duty tasks of navigating the streets of the capital pushing a six to eight feet wide mobile structures made of steel and carrying a variety of animal creations which include a 12ft high Zoo Entrance with rhino, giraffe, lion and zebra heads, an inflatable bush with lion and tigers hiding amongst the leaves, a polar bear island, a 10ft mechanical elephant and a peacock/phoenix sculpture rising from inflatable flames.

Between 10 and 15 prop pushers are needed for the parade and this could be a great opportunity for any group interested in raising some much needed funds. In addition to any additional crew fee, the carnival group covers B&B accommodation in Dublin on the night of the 16th March, organises transport and food expenses.

Any group or individual interested in availing of this opportunity should contact Project Manager - Kevin O'Neill at 074 93 73375 or email: inishowencarnival@hotmail.com.
