JANUARY 2011

Moville Group vie of €10,000 cash boost

An Inishowen community group has earned the chance of receiving €10,000 worth of community funds from Ireland's largest building society.

On 6th January Moville Community Complex Development Company Ltd celebrated becoming one of many winners of EBS Community Fund of €500. Now they have been selected to represent Co. Donegal for the EBS National Community Fund Prize to be presented to the "extraordinary" group choosen by the public through an online voting at EBS's official website: www.ebs.ie. The organisation that is eventually choosen will receive €10,000 in funding.

The Moville group based in the recently renovated St. Eugene's Hall in the town has beaten off strong competition from other worthy community organisations in the county. Maxine Doherty, secretary of St. Eugene's Hall described the selection as "brilliant news." She said: "Renovating the hall was very expensive and the committee have worked so hard to raise money for both the renovation and our various activities. Receiving €500 towards all of this was great, but receiving €10,000 would be amazing. It's terrific to be recognised for our hard work in the community in such a manner."

St. Eugene's Hall provides community facilities and activities for everyone. Activities range from bingo, youth club, martial arts and exercise classes to educational courses, concerts, mother and toddler groups and shows.

Manager of EBS Buncrana, Janet McIvor said the Community Fund had given groups and organisations a chance to be recognised and rewarded for their "amazing contributions" to their local communities. She said she hoped everyone would take the time to vote for Moville Community Complex Development.

Visit EBS's website at www.ebs.ie to vote online for St. Eugene's Hall. The competition is open until 31st January 2011.
