JANUARY 2007
No Inishowen New Year babies born at local hospitals
The Maternity wards of Letterkenny General and Altnagelvin reported
a quieter than usual New Year's for births. At Letterkenny General,
the first birth of the year came at around 10am when a baby girl
was born to a Dunfanaghy woman. A midwife at the hospital added
there had been no births on New Year's Eve.
It was a similar story at Altnagelvin where no children were born
close enough to midnight on the 31st December to have 'just missed
out' on the title of the first birth of '07. That honour went to
a boy from the Moss Park area of Derry who was born at 11.37am on
the 1st of January. There was one other child born on New Year's
Day - a girl from Brook Hill in Derry City. She was born at 5:27pm.
