Muff 9th Donegal Scout Group win Errigal Cup competition
The Errigal Cup competition was held in Lenamore, Muff at the weekend
and included scouts from all over the Errigal County which includes
scouting groups from counties Donegal, Derry and Tyrone. Scouts
from Inishowen have won an annual competition for scout troops in
the north west.
The groups must set up and organise their camps and are judged
on this and a wide range of scouting skills throughout the weekend
competition.
Muff 9th Donegal Scouts were the outstanding winners and their
'Eagles' team managed to win the Errigal Cup for the club again
this year. Runners up were the 'Wolves' who are also from Muff Scouts.
Both teams will now represent the Errigal County in the all Ireland
finals. The competition, known as the 'Phoenix Challenge', will
take place in the Curragh this August.
An outstanding performance was also given by Muff 'Dragons' who
won first place in the novice section. These are the youngest members
of the Muff scout group and they managed to secure the Errigal Shield
on this, their first major scouting competition.
Hazel Brown paid tribute to the teams for their hard work and dedication,
and was pleased for everyone to win this year as scouts throughout
the world celebrate the Centenary Year of Scouting.
