Summer Ballet for Inishowen children
The Ballet Ireland Summer School are looking for Inishowen Children,
from 6 years and older, for their programme which will run from
Monday 30th July until Friday 3rd August. The summer school, based
at An Grianan Theatre in Letterkenny, welcomes both beginners and
experienced dancers.
Ballet has enjoyed a revival in Ireland since the first summer
school was held at An Grianan in 2003. Since then the school has
become one of the core providers of summer entertainment. The school
focuses on workshops geared towards a performance open to families
and the general public. Mime, music and dramatic elements are also
included in the exciting workshops. A fantastic opportunity for
young people to show case their talents, the Ballet Ireland Summer
School provides the opportunity for amateur dancers to perform alongside
experienced performers.
A spokesperson for the theatre said "Ballet as an introduction
to performance art has many advantages: it's component parts, music,
painting, poetry and drama all conspire to inspire young minds.
"Young people are exposed to some of the vast span of ideas,
skills and genres that make a contemporary theatre piece".
Tickets are priced at €80, with a family discount of €70
each. For more information contact An Grianan Theatre on 074 91
