JUNE 2007

Inishowen author honoured by English Actress

Hazel McIntyre, award winning Inishowen poet, is to have her work published in a book being compiled by Wendy Craig, renowned English Actress. Hazel's poem, 'Warm Days of Summer' was chosen by Wendy Craig to be included in a book being published by 'Christians in Entertainment'.

Hazel from Culdaff said: "I got a phone call from Wendy's agent about my poem and I was very honoured as I am a great fan and admirer of hers". Looking forward to the launch of the finished book in London later this year, Ms McIntyre, who is the author of six compelling books added: "The launch was postponed until September, but I have been invited to it, and I will receive the invitation when the date has been finalised".

Hazel, has based many of her poems on the beautiful background of her native Culdaff, and added that her inspiration for the piece came following a turbulent personal time. "I was recovering from a bout of depression back in 1993 and I found that escaping back to childhood helped a lot. So I began writing as a form of therapy. Warm days of summer was included in my first publication - 'Iron wheels on rocky lanes', which Wendy read and was inspired by".

Hazel is currently working on another book of poetry.
