Moville's Quaypoint Monument
Cecilia Keveney, Moville Senator, has revealed that a statue proposed
for Moville Pier will now be installed by the end of the year. Moville's
Quaypoint monument is being crafted by Locky Morris, the Derry sculptor
responsible for Letterkenny's iconic Polestar installation.
"The public art piece which is being commissioned for the
end of the pier will be installed towards the end of the year and
it is hoped that a safety railing will also be installed in the
coming weeks on the shore path. Discussions have also been held
on the Green and it is intended to meet with other interested parties
including local community members in the coming weeks to discuss
options to improve this area and I would encourage all those interested
to get involved." said senator Keaveney.
Speaking on the issue of Moville Green, Cllr. McDonald commented.
"One of the aims for the Green is that the white wall would
be built for the summer and that new benches would be installed
before the end of July. I was very disillusioned after raising the
issue of seating at yesterday's Heart meeting as I was informed
that only 11 seats would be provided and these wouldn't be installed
until the end of August, the end of the tourist season. I call on
all those who use the green, both young and old, to respect the
facilities that are put in place as seats are needed for people
to use, not abuse."
