Moville poet dedicates book to mother

Martin Hopkins is currently putting the finishing touches to his new poetry book 'Mr Man on the Moon to showcase his collection of poetry.

"Nobody knows me as a poet but I have been writing for years, it is only now that I have decided to put them in a book. I am dedicating it to my mother who has Alzheimer's and will be 85 on her next birthday', said Martin. I am an Inishowen man to the back bone and thought it was time to show people that I can do a bit of poetry. I decided to do this after a charity night where I ended up reciting one of my poems, I had such a thrill so I decided to start the production of the book.'

Martin is printing 1,500 books hoping that the people of Inishowen who read poetry will enjoy his collection. "The poetry does not have one set scene, it varies from different experiences in my life, including a few about my mother. "Martin, who has dyslexia says, it does not cause too many problems, ' I need someone to do the spell checks for me but other than that I don't let it effect me.'

The book will be launched on 17th July in Rosato's Moville at 9pm and is open to all who would be interested in attending. Entertainment on the night will include local musicians and poets. ' It should be a good night and I hope to see a good crowd there, I will even sign some copies,' laughed Martin.
