JUNE 2008

Foyle West Summer Scheme

Community groups and villages from Culmore to Redcastle have been working over the last year to build relationships between the communities, share activities and work for a positive and sustainable future in the Foyle West area.

The groups involved include Culmore Area Forum, Muff Community Development, Co-op, Quigley's Point Community Centre and Redcastle Community Development with the support of many other community/voluntary organisations.

Recently the groups applied and were successful in securing grant aid to run another cross border youth summer scheme. "Many thanks to Laurie McGee for her efforts and Border Action for the grant" said a spokesperson.

The summer scheme is for children of all ages beginning Monday 30th June. A full programme of activities will be offered at Redcastle FC grounds, Quigley's Point Community Centre, St. Mary's Community Hall, the new Thornhill College Grounds and the River Foyle.

Transport will be provided so that everyone can take part in activities in any of the venues. There will be a a small fee for participation.

More volunteers are needed to help and for further information on the scheme please contact your local group.
