APRIL 200
Irish Skydiving Record Attempt
Skydiver Karl Carey, from Malin Head, needs 100 people to jump
out of a plane with him on Friday 1st August. The record-breaking
charity attempt is part of the annual Irish Skydiving Festival.
The Skydivers will drop in 50 tandem teams where complete novices
are attached to experienced divers. This has never been done before
in Ireland and will be an official Irish skydiving record. Each
participant will be a skydiving record holder. All charity skydives
are tandem dives with an instructor who has clocked up a minimum
of 500 skydives.
Karl Carey who began skydiving ten years ago at the Irish Parachute
Club, Co Offaly, has a business called Skydive 4 Charity which gives
members of the public the chance to experience skydiving. His company
is affiliated to over 30 of Ireland's leading charities. He has
over 1,300 jumps logged. He has jumped out of everything from a
small Cessna to a Hercules C130 military transporter and even hot-air
balloons. He is a fully qualified skydiving instructor and tandem
master.
Karl said: "We are searching for 100 brave charity fundraisers
to become record holders. An official record comes round maybe once
in a lifetime, if not at all. This is your chance. Each participant
will receive an individually numbered certificate and a commemorative
t-shirt. The day will benefit charities all over Ireland and raise
thousands of euro for their great causes."
