Search and Rescue Games
The inaugural Joint Search and Rescue competition involving the
Irish Coast Guard and HM Coast guard Northern Ireland will take
place in Greencastle over this weekend, 19th, 20th and 21st May.
The purpose of the competition is to demonstrate the skills of
our volunteer lifesavers through friendly competition in search
and rescue exercises. A total of 48 Coast Guard members from each
of the divisions - Dublin, Malin, Valentia and HM Coastguard Northern
Ireland will compete over a variety of competitions. Teams will
be tested over their core skills of leadership, teamwork, search
planning, coordination and execution, both ashore and afloat.
Minister of State, Pat the Cope Gallagher will officially open
the competition at 7pm on Friday at the Carlton Redcastle Hotel,
with the competition taking place all day Saturday.
