SAVE MOVILLE'S BOAT BUILDING SKILLS - SPONSOR A BOAT
Moville has a long, proud heritage of boat building. With the changing
times there is a real risk that the skills of traditional boat building
could be lost. This project wants to save the skills for the future
generation.
We are planning to build a Foyle Class Punt in Moville this
autumn at the Moville Community College. The college has offered
the school as the venue for the building and has donated money to
help make it happen. McDonald's Boat Builders will be teaching people,
young and old, how to build a Foyle Class Punt.
The aim of the project is to keep the skills of boat building alive
in Moville. The school will use the boat so that the young people
of Moville can learn how to row a traditional boat. The Moville
Community Traditional Boat Building Project is a partnership between
the Foyle Rowing Club, Moville Activities for Men (Moville and District
Family Resource Centre) and the Moville Community College.
We need to raise money to build the boat and are approaching businesses
in the town for help. All businesses and people who donate will
have their names put forward for six prizes and the chance to have
their names put on one of the twelve oars for the boat.
If you want to help Save the Skills of Boat Building by donating
money please contact Lucy White 93 82058 or David Simpson on 93
81244.
