Remembrance ceremony for Inishowen's WWI Dead

The 2nd Annual Remembrance Ceremony for the Inishowen men and women who died in World War I will be held on Sunday July 16th at 3pm in Fort Dunree.

People from all over the north west will gather at Fort Dunree to remember these from both the nationalist and unionist traditions in Ireland who died during the First World War.

There are 200 men and women from the peninsula included in the Inishowen Roll of Honour, who died during that war, which will be read out and a joint religious service will be held. Music will be by The Buncrana Accordion Band the Tullintrain Pipe Band, and Dunree's own Tracey McRory.

As well as the Remembrance ceremony there will be a number of exhibitions open to the public at Fort Dunree including an unique exhibition of Trench Art from Belfast, which will be on display in the Republic for the very first time.

A number of experts on the period will be there, on the day, to help and assist people who may have memorabilia in their families from that time and would like to find out more about it.

The organisers would like to invite everyone to come on the day and in particular to hear from those of you who lost family members and would like to participate in reading the Roll of Honour.
