Redcastle photographer nominated for Digital Media award
Redcastle photographer Ben Elves has been short-listed for the
Irish Digital Media Awards, which takes place in the Burlington
Hotel, Dublin on the 1st February. His picture is entered as The
Weather Is A Good Storyteller, and is nominated in the Best Digital
Image category along with those of four other finalists.
Elves, 38 says he entered the image (a landscape shot from a vantage
point above the Five Fingers Strand, Malin Head, looking across
to the toe of Doagh Island) because, "It was a good skyscape
that showed the contrasts in the Irish environment and the character
of the Irish Weather". "The weather is a good Storyteller"
featured in the Norwich native's 2004 book of the same name.
This is the third year of the awards, which recognise excellence
in digital media fields such as photography animation and Web design.
There have, according to awards ceremony organisers been an unprecedented
number of entries this year. Last year there were 350 entries.
Ben, who returned to photography three years ago after moving to
Ireland last year received a gold award for excellence from the
Bel-Art Project in Portugal for his online gallery at www.benelves.com.
This (the Digital Media Awards nomination) is the biggest to date."
said the freelance photographer.
