JANUARY 2006

Irish Bridal Designer of the Year

Jen Doherty, Buncrana Designer, was named Irish Bridal Designer of the Year 2006 in Jury's Hotel, Dublin, at a recent fashion awards ceremony, which was hosted by Irish Brides magazine. Jen scooped the main prize of the event, in which thirty bridal designers took part. She also took the prestigious romantic category. "I was completely overwhelmed to hear my name a second time after already receiving an award for the romantic category. She Said.

The judges expressed great excitement with Jen's designs. Niall Tyrrell of Oakes said of the winning dress: "This has real 1950s glamour with red-carpet appeal". Other judges included Constance Harris, Fashion Editor of The Sunday Independent and Aoife Ni Thuairisg, host of TG4's popular Paisean Faisean. The dress appeared on RTE's The Afternoon Show in the Build up to the competition. The overall winning creation is a stunning winter white satin dress with a bias cut and an elegant low scooped back, all of which is set off by a bustle and train. The romantic category winner is a classical ivory French lace dress with an open back.

Since 1996, Jen has brought high fashion to the bridal industry. Each of Jen's gowns are unique and individual creations. Mastery of cut, attention to detail and uncompromising quality are the hall marks of a Jen Doherty dress. This balance is completed by using the finest materials from Europe's top fabric providers. Jen says that, "The most challenging thing is translating your ideas into something real that does justice to your vision. She now plans to build on these recent endorsements and continue her business expansion in Dublin.
