FEBRUARY 2006
Daffodil Day Launched
Tanaiste and Minister for Health and Children, Mary Harney, TD,
has launched the Irish Cancer Society Daffodil Day 2006 campaign,
on Thursday 16th February. This years Daffodil Day will take place
on Friday 24th March, and the Society is calling on the public to
support the day so that it can continue to grow its free patient
care and specialist nursing services to people with cancer and their
families all over Ireland. It is estimated that 21,500 people living
in Ireland will develop cancer this year and approximately 718 of
these cases will be in County Donegal.
Last year the Society raised €2.9 million from its Daffodil
Day campaign.
The Irish Cancer Society is calling on the Irish public to support
Daffodil Day, by 'buying a daff' by donating daffodils, holding
a daffodil coffee morning or acting as a volunteer selling daffodils
in the community or work place. For further information please call
the Daffodil Day office on CallSave 1850 60 60 60.
