MAY 2009
Inishowen Gospel Choir to perform in Culdaff
The Inishowen Gospel Choir will perform a spectacular dawn chorus
on Culdaff Beach, Sunday 30th May at 6am, for the closing ceremony
of the 2009 Beltaine festival.
The choir are offering anyone aged 50+ the once in a lifetime opportunity
to receive training in a specially designed pre-event workshop on
Friday 29th May, and if they wish, sing along with the choir at
The Dawn Chorus itself. In this two hour workshop, led by Siobhan
Shiels (MA Jazz, Uni Ulster), the co-director of the IGC, participants
will take part in some glorious gospel singing spanning continents
and decades from Africa songs, contemporary popular songs and southern
American gospel. Siobhan has been a music facilitator for over seven
years, working with various groups from young to old. An accomplished
Jazz vocalist, her workshops are guaranteed to make you smile and
want to sing with all your heart. She is a firm believer that everyone
can sing you just need to know how to find your own voice!
The workshop will take place in the Inishowen Carnival Offices,
Carndonagh, from 7-9pm on Friday 29th May. Admission free. As there
are limited numbers, pre-booking is essential, please call Kathryn,
