MARCH 2009
ICR fm Takes To The Streets For Moville St. Patrick's Day Parade
Inishowen Community Radio (ICR fm) will be broadcasting live this
St. Patrick's Day from 1-3pm covering all the fun and frolics of
Moville's annual Parade. This will be the first outing of the local
community stations recently acquired Outside Broadcast Unit (OBU)
and everyone at the station is excited at the prospect, especially
locals Eddie Dee and Trudy McLaughlin, the presenters on the day!
"The OBU is a tremendous addition to our facilities and will
increase the stations range of broadcasting opportunities and ways
of engaging with our communities," said Station Manager, Jim
Doherty. "The equipment is the best modern technology can provide
and we greatly appreciate the support of Donegal County Council's
Community Enterprise Unit who helped fund it."
Trudy and Eddie will be broadcasting from the Cosy Cottage and
want everyone to come along on the day. "I'm really looking
forward to it," Breakfast Show presenter Eddie Dee said. "This
is a first for me and the station and I hope everyone has a great
time on the day. It's an exciting prospect and we will have loads
of prizes, donated by local businesses, to give away on the day."
The live show will include loads of interviews with local people
and a few special guests, including St. Patrick himself! Trudy McLaughlin
is hoping to meet lots of people on the day. "We're looking
for people to come up for a chat with us, send greetings and make
requests and generally get involved in the show. We're going to
play a wide range of music too to cater for every taste. It will
be a show for all the family. As the show will also be streamed
live over the internet even your family and friends abroad can feel
as if they're here on the day," she said.
Anyone who can't make it to Moville on the day can still send messages
and requests by contacting the station by email at studio@icrfm.ie
or texting 086 831000. There will be a big ICR presence at the Parade
as the station is entering a float (Fingers crossed for our second
win!!) and loads of staff and volunteers about the place on the
day.
"At ICR we're always trying to find way's of making the station
more accessible to our community and to get the people here participating
more in the life of the community. This is especially important
in the dreadful times we're now going through. A strong sense of
community, where people support and promote local activities is
vital. We're committed to playing our part in that and the new OBU
is a great asset in that and we congratulate Donegal County Council
for supporting us," said Jim Doherty.
So don't forget, the show goes out live from 1-3pm on 105 and 107.6
fm or the internet on www.icrfm.ie and everyone's invited along
to ICR's first live outside broadcast.
