JUNE 2009
Ireland Air Ambulance
Ireland Air Ambulance is a Registered Charity. Our purpose is to
operate the region's first Helicopter Emergency Service (HEMS),
which is scheduled to become operational by mid 2009.
Currently there are sixteen charities, operating twenty five helicopters,
providing coverage over England Scotland and Wales. All respond
directly to 999 emergency calls. At the moment there is no such
service covering your region. We will become the 17th service and
will operate across nineteen counties of Ireland. Areas of Coverage
are: Antrim, Armagh, Belfast, Cavan, Donegal, Down, Dublin, Fermanagh,
Galway, Derry, Leitrim, Louth, Longford, Mayo, Meath, Monaghan,
Roscommon, Sligo, Tyrone, Westmeath, Rathlin Island and The Isle
of Man.
Airborne within 3 minutes, the helicopter will be able to deal
with the most serious incidents, wherever they may have occurred.
Our highly-trained flight crew can land in extremely small areas,
including on high streets in the middle of a village, town or city.
Your Air Ambulance will be very special. Unlike the majority of
other HEMS services, we will be operating with a specially trained
Trauma Doctor on board, which is extremely rare. This will allow
us to provide the same lifesaving treatment to a patient at the
scene of an incident as would be received in a hospital's A&E
unit.
Your first Air Ambulance is on its way. Reaching and treating trauma
cases within the 'Golden Hour'. But ... we need your help, let's
get this off the ground together.
There are many ways that you can help to make a huge difference
to peoples lives in your region.
Donations: However small are a crucial source of income. To make
donations is simple: you can donate online at www.irelandairambulance.org
or by making a cheque payable 'Ireland Air Ambulance' and posting
to the address below, however you can show long term support by
making a regular donation.
Fundraising Plan or Idea: Many people have already run a diverse
range of fundraising activities on our behalf ranging from a quiz
in the local pub to a large, charity football match - a lot of these
have become annual events! People love to have fun and help a great
cause at the same time. Fundraising ideas can be found on our website
and our team will be happy to give as much assistance as possible
to help you run a successful event.
Volunteers: We will only continue to exits with the help of dedicated
volunteers. Our current team are working hard throughout the region
helping raise funds and providing operational support. But we need
more committed people. If you think you can help we would be delighted
to hear from you. Full details on our volunteer programme can also
be found on our website.
Corporate Sponsorship: As a high profile charity we can bring attention
from many sources to those who help us. Our in-house publications
alone are scheduled to reach a circulation level that many newspapers
would be envious of, add to this the TV coverage we receive and
the fact that our staff are seen in high-profile locations every
day (including shopping centres), your brand could only benefit
from a sponsorship relationship.
