Charity Concert

Former Eurovision winner and All-Ireland talent Show judge Dana will be making a special appearance in Newtown next Saturday night where she will perform in a charity concert and dance in aid of young Vanessa canning. Twelve year old Vanessa, daughter of Paul and Stephanie Canning, suffers from a rare disorder that has made her bones very brittle. She has suffered more than 50 broken bones in her life, and uses a wheelchair and walking aid to prevent injury and lead a normal lifestyle. Vanessa will undergo surgery in Sheffield shortly to, in her own words, "fix my legs" and all proceeds from the dance will go towards defraying the cost of that operation.

Local band Omega who will perform with Dana in the Naomh Colmcille GAA complex, are providing their services free of charge and all proceeds will go towards a forthcoming medical operation for Vanessa.

Tickets are being sold door to door in the Newtown, Manor, Carrigans, St. Johnston and Burt areas. But if you haven't got a ticket, come along and pay on the door on Saturday 13th June. Admission to the dance is €5 and light refreshments will be served. Dancing is from 10pm until late, and the venue is served by a full licensed bar. For more information contact Dympna on 9156567.
